Cross-Currency Budget

Envelope budgeting for more than one currency

A budget for money in more than one currency.

Salary in euros, rent in forints, savings in pounds? Know what your money is for, in the currency it is in. Nothing is converted until you convert it.

In a small, closed trial. Sign-ups aren’t open yet.

The Budget page: cash, In categories and Ready to budget in euros, forints and pounds, with an estimate in euros.

Screenshots show made-up demo data.

€100 and HUF 39,000 are not the same money, even when a rate says they are.

Most budgeting apps convert everything into one currency and show a total that no account actually holds. Here each balance stays in its own currency. When you want the big picture, an estimate in your display currency sits alongside, always marked ≈.

How it works

Plan, record, check.

01 Plan

Assign money from the account that holds it.

Each category keeps a balance per currency, so Groceries can hold forints from your everyday account and euros from your salary account. Assigned, Spent and Available show in each currency, and Ready to budget tells you what each account still has to give.

  • Cover overspending, repeat last month or use a three-month average in one step.
  • Group categories the way you think about them.

02 Record

Every account keeps its own register.

Expenses, income, transfers and conversions, each line with a running balance and a status. Reconcile against your statement to confirm the balance; changing a reconciled transaction later adds a visible adjustment instead of silently moving it.

  • A conversion records what you sent and what arrived, so the rate is the one you actually got, fees included.
  • Edits keep their history instead of rewriting the past.

03 Check

Import your bank’s CSV, and see that it adds up.

Map a file’s columns once and save the mapping for next time. Rows that match transactions you already entered are marked cleared instead of added twice, and the balance check compares the bank’s running balance with yours before anything is saved.

  • Categories are suggested from your rules and each payee’s last transaction.
  • Undo an import if something looks wrong.
Reviewing an import: the balance check agrees with the bank, two rows match existing transactions and five are new.

Estimates you can trust

Totals in a display currency of your choice use the European Central Bank’s daily reference rates. When an estimate would hide a deficit in one currency behind a surplus in another, you see a dash instead.

Your data, exportable

Download everything as documented JSON, or your transactions as CSV for a spreadsheet. Exact amounts, in their own currencies.

What’s new, in plain words

Every release lists its changes for people, not developers, and the app tells you once when something new arrives.

Light or dark

Follows your device, or choose one in Settings.

At home on a phone

The same budget on a small screen, and every form still works with JavaScript turned off.

No ads, no trackers

Your budget is used only to run the app. The privacy page lists exactly what is kept and for how long.
